An easy skillet chicken recipe with a delicious Honey Garlic sauce that will have you falling in love with this dish. This makes a great supper for weeknights as it is quick and easy and the flavor is so good in this honey garlic chicken recipe.
If you prefer you can use other vegetables like green beans or broccoli. The veggies make this a lovely healthy dish and more substantial. Keep leftovers in the refrigerator.
You could use skinless chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts, if desired. If need be cook the chicken in batches in tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. If need be to thicken the sauce, add a little cornstarch. This will most likely not be necessary, unless you add too much water.
If you don't have garlic, you can use garlic powder in a pinch. This skillet honey garlic chicken is sure to please.
INGREDIENTS:
11/2 lbs chicken breasts, diced (0.680 kg)
2 tbsp Parmesan cheese (30 mL)
1/4
cup Gluten-Free Bake Mix 2, OR almond flour (60 mL)
1/2 tsp salt (2 mL)
1/2
tsp black pepper (2 mL)
3 tbsp olive oil (45 mL)
1 tbsp butter (15 mL)
1 red or orange bell pepper, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 tbsp minced garlic (15 mL)
1/4
cup water, OR a bit more (60 mL)
2 tbsp honey substitute (30 mL)
1 tbsp lemon juice (15 mL)
1/2
tsp Montreal chicken seasoning (2 mL)
1/2
tsp hot sauce (2 mL)
1/2
tsp red pepper flakes (2 mL)
Prepare
chicken. In small bowl, mix Gluten-Free Bake Mix 2, OR almond flour, salt and black pepper. Toss chicken with the “breading.”
In
large nonstick skillet in 1 tbsp (15 mL) olive oil, over medium heat, sauté
peppers until softening. Add garlic and
cook 1 to 2 minutes while stirring. Set aside.
In
same skillet in butter and remaining olive oil, cook chicken pieces on both
sides until golden brown and cooked through.
Add peppers back to the pan.
In
small bowl, combine water, honey substitute, lemon juice, Montreal chicken
seasoning, hot sauce and red pepper flakes.
Add to chicken and peppers and reduce the sauce a bit while cooking.
